 Unity in diversity is the existence of oneness even after a number of differences. It is said, that, "Unity in diversity is the existence of oneness even after a number of differences. It is said, that, "United we stand, divided we fall." The meaning of this proverb is that if we stay together, nobody can defeat us and if we keep fighting over trivial matters then outsiders may take Advantage of our internal weakness. The wonderful story once the old man was dying, his sons began to quarrel. He asked his sons to break a bundle of sticks tied together. They were impotent  to do so. When Old man ordered the bundle to be untied and asked them one by one to break each stick separately. They did it easily. This was actually a lesson for his sons that strength lies in unity.

 In every aspect of life, we find that unity gives strength. Even in the animal world, animals help each other in the face of danger. When one senses danger nearby, they immediately Communicate to the other creatures about themselves and continue to do so in the face of adversity. The important aspect of our life is that "we may have different religions, different Cultures, different coulure skin but we all belong to one human race." 

Diversity has its advantages in it. When people from different backgrounds & different beliefs, come together number of ideas combine that will lead to the increased creativity and ideas. People from different or diverse backgrounds provide a number of diverse backgrounds provide a number of ideas for adapting to the ever-changing would. A collection of people having different experiences, different skills, different languages and other differences increase the range of services. Working with diverse people provides more exposure and makes us better human beings. It also teaches us to respect the opinions of others. It boosts the morale of people at work-places, organisations or communities.

Working with diverse people, also, enhances the quality of teamwork by improving performance, quality of work, productivity etc. It keeps people away from social problems and helps to manage conflicts easily. It also gives rise to national integration among the people of a country. Much of the social, economic, environmental and global issues can be solved if people  around the world get united as one entity. When the people of a country develop a sense of unity among themselves, the government of that country can focus on the economic development and security of the nation.

It was Nehru, who coined the phrase, "unity in diversity" to describe his country, India. India called the land of unity in diversity, because it is a land of different religious, languages, Cultures and traditions. People live together happily without hurting each other's feelings and beliefs to their religions . India is home approximately to 141.72 crores. There are 28 States and 9 union territories in India. 

India is a multi-religious, multi lingual and pluralistic in nature, 9 different religions. there are 22 official languages but the total number of mother tongues spoken in India are 1652. people in India follow different customs, traditions and also celebrate different festivals which have their own significance. each festival is celebrated in different ways. But in spite of such immense diversity. People of india are united. Unity in diversity has been a great characteristic in india. People from different backgrounds together in the bond of humanity and brotherhood. Living together with love and harmony provides the real essence of life. It also shows us that we all are born, cared and nourished by one supreme God.
